The day of your wedding will perhaps be the biggest adventure of your life. With all the built-up excitement and anticipation, not to mention the seemingly endless list of things to do, it’s easy to forget that inevitable road blocks and minor disasters will happen.

While you can’t forsee the future, nor can you prevent every hurdle that comes your way, there are some things that you can take control of, like beauty blunders. Here are a few of the most common beauty blunders and how to fix them.

1- A large pimple forms on your face the day before your wedding.

Stress is the inevitable side-effect that comes with planning a wedding, and unfortunately, this can result in the unsightly formation of pimples. But what if you get a pimple the day of or the day before your wedding? Whatever you do, don’t try to extract the mole yourself! Instead, try to squeeze in a last minute appointment with your dermatologist for a cortisone injection – immediate relief.

2- You’re having a bad hair day, and getting another blow-out isn’t an option.

If you don’t have the time to revive your hair, and you don’t have the time to make it to a salon, take a quick shower so you can shampoo and condition. Next, take a blow-dryer and a flat brush to dry your hair straight. Once you’ve done that, you can style as usual.

3- As soon as you sit in your makeup artist’s chair, she informs you that your skin is very oily.

Of all the blunders mentioned in this article, oily skin is probably the easiest to manage. If you have an oily skin problem, you might want to start using a quality cleanser that was made for oily skin, like Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser. If your skin continues to get oily throughout the day, store skin blotting tissues inside your bridal emergency beauty kit to bring with you on the go.

Of all the things you will stress about on your wedding day, your hair should not be one of them. No matter what hairstyle you choose to wear, here are the top styling essentials you will need to make your dream look happen!

1- Quality Hairspray

A quality hairspray is key to making your hairstyle last longer, especially if your wedding is an outdoor event. L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray ($12.99 at Target) is the perfect choice as it works, and it’s affordable. It’s lightweight, and it won’t leave your hair with a sticky residue. Just a little of this will go along way to make your hairstyle look simply perfect.

2- Bobby or Hair Pins

If you’re planning on an updo or a half-updo, bobby pins are a must-have. Although bobby and hair pins come in the plethora of colors, for weddings it’s a better option to use pins that are closest to your natural hair color so they blend in.

3-Hairbrush and Hairdryer with Diffuser Attachment

Whether the hairstyle you’re going for is sleek and sexy, or chic and wavy, all amazing hairstyles can be achieved with the simplest of styling tools: a hairdryer with diffuser attachment and a good hairbrush. Of course it’s important to note that the “right” hairbrush is subjective to the style you have in mind. Sleek hair needs a flat brush and wavy/curly hair needs a round brush.

4- Hair Extensions

Hair extensions are ideal for those who want to add length or volume to their hairstyle. Unless you’ve got lots of experience in applying extensions to your hair, you might want to leave it to the experts for your big day. You’ll want to find a set of extensions that match your natural hair color and texture so they look and feel like your own natural hair.

That’s why so many brides enlist the help of a professional makeup artist and hairstylist. Of course, it may seem like a headache to find the right people to help beautify you on your big day, but here are some tips to help you through the process.

1- Consult Several Salons

Your best friend is a stellar makeup artist who knows how to perfect that smoky eye look and the full glamazon effect, but you’re not certain if she can create the natural look you desire. It’s time to put hurt feelings aside, and find someone who can make your dreams come true. Take a look in your local phone book, online, or even ask a few recent brides you know and trust to see which salons they recommend. Go ahead, and call to schedule a free consultation to see if you mesh well.

2- Ask Questions and Bring Photos

You should never go to a salon without a few goals in mind, otherwise your needs won’t be met. Make a list of questions you want to ask, and bring a few photos of makeup and hairstyles you want, so your potential stylist/artist can better assist you. An image says more than words.

3- Ask for a Trial Run

Many salons will offer beauty trials prior to the big day. This will determine if they can create what you like. Always ask if they do before you book, and find out if you have to pay extra for the trial. Most salons will charge for the trial, but it never hurts to ask for a free one, or at least for a discounted price on one.

Are you getting hitched on a beach? If the answer to the question is yes, you need to start planning a beach-friendly beauty routine that is easy to create and that will outlast the humid air. Here are some smart and beach-friendly beauty tips that you can really use.

1- Start With Smart Skin Care

Skincare is everything. Cleanse, moisturize, and treat your skin every single day — no matter how busy your routine becomes in the last few weeks before the big day. If you want to get microdermabrasion or a chemical peel, try to schedule it at least 4 weeks in advance.

2- Prep And Finish Your Makeup

High humidity and warm weather will sometimes cause your makeup to melt right off your skin. After you’ve taken care of your daily skincare routine, you should use a makeup primer to prep your skin and finish your makeup with a setting spray to keep the makeup from running.

3- Keep The Makeup Glamorous Yet Simple

There are really no rules about how your makeup is supposed to look, but it is generally a smart choice to keep your makeup look glamorous and simple. Instead of pairing smoky eyes with bright red lips, why not choose one and play down the rest? Most beach weddings are a little more casual, so it’s a great idea to keep in mind that less is more.

4- When It Comes To Hairstyles, Think Beach-y Waves

There is nothing more romantic (or more appropriate) for a beach weddings than long and loose waves. Start the look with fresh clean hair, then take a curling iron and create loose spirals. Finish off the look with a little bit of hair spray. From there you can pin them up into a loose chignon or updo or you can leave your hair down and pin a tropical flower to your hair.

Every bride-to-be has a vision of how she wants to look on her big day. From the perfect updo to flawless makeup to elegantly manicured nails, you can achieve it all on your wedding day, even if you’re under a tight budget. Here are the top beauty tips you can really use on your big day!

1- Keep The Hair Relaxed.

Unless you’re getting married in the Buckingham Palace, there is no need to come up with an elaborate updo for your big day. Instead, take a cue from your everyday look! Do you have long curly locks? Keep the curls frizz free with a anti-frizz serum and style your hair into a loose chignon. If your hair is short and sleek, gently tease your hair at the crown for a little volume, and then use a light hairspray to hold your hair in place. Add a pretty barrette on the side to give the look something special. Consult your hairstylist for more ideas.

2- Hire A Makeup Artist For Your Big Day

Don’t worry about your makeup; hire a professional makeup artist to do your wedding day makeup. Make sure you meet up with the makeup artist at least a month in advance, and ask if they can show you samples of their work. Even better, ask a recently-married friend is she used a professional makeup artist and if so, would she recommend the makeup artist to a friend?

3- Keep Your Nails Polished

Forget bright colors, keep your nails simple yet elegant. Get your nails done at a professional nail salon at least a few days before your wedding. Think simple nail colors or a classic French manicure. You’ll want something that looks timeless and elegant, not trendy and dated.

Choosing the perfect hairstyle for the big day really depends on a few things, including your personal taste, the vision or theme of the wedding, and your entire look. Traditional brides often choose a classic chignon, bohemian brides often opt for long romantic waves, and uptown brides prefer elegant up-dos. Once you settle on a hair style that complements the dress and veil, you’ll probably want to try re-creating the hairstyle a few times before the actual big day. This can be done with the help of a professional hairstylist or your friend. Still haven’t found your ideal look? Here are some top tips for inspiration!

1- Find A Style That Works With Your Hair
If you’ve got long curly locks, then maybe a super straight and sleek up-do isn’t such a good idea, at least for your wedding day. The ideal hairstyle should not only make you feel beautiful, but it also should complement the style and texture of your hair. The last thing you need to worry about on your wedding day is your hair frizzing out.

2- Consider A Half-Updo
Can’t decide between an up-do or leaving your hair down? Try a half-updo! This look is relatively easy to create and maintain. It’s also a romantic style that works with virtually all hair types and textures.

3- Trade The Veil For Accessories
Instead of covering up your glamorous hairstyle, why not play it up with a tiara, pretty comb or barrette? Don’t just use any hair accessory, you want something with timeless elegance. Choose just one accessory and make sure it complements the rest of your jewelry. And if you do opt for a hair accessory, remember to keep the rest of jewelry minimal.

A large percentage of your time and budget will be spent on achieving that beautiful bride look. But like most things involving the wedding, it takes time, often several months worth of planning. Luckily, here is a checklist/timeline of things that you will probably want to do beforehand to ensure that you look like the beautiful bride you are.

Six Months Ahead
If you want to lose a little weight before the big day, now is the time to start. Check with your main physician before starting any plan, so she can assist and monitor your progress. You can cut back on red meat, dairy, and sugar products, but make sure you replace them with healthier options like vegetables, fruits, seafood, and whole grains. Up your intake of pure water as you cut back on sugary beverages and alcohol. It would be wise to start an exercise ritual at this time.

Four to Five Months Ahead
Start looking in bridal magazines for hair ideas and makeup ideas. If you’re going to be doing your own hair and makeup on the big day, now would be the best time to practice. Stop by a cosmetics store or counter and pick up a few new items to try. If you’re going to a professional for your big day look, schedule an appointment now. Don’t forget to meet with several makeup artists and hairstylists before actually scheduling an appointment.

Two to Three Months Ahead
If you haven’t scheduled your appointment yet, then do it now. Go ahead and start getting a few facials and spa treatments now to relax. If you have major skin problems such as acne or eczema, schedule an appointment with your dermatologist for a solution.

Six Weeks to 1 Month Ahead
Several weeks before the big day, call and make sure your beauty appointments are still scheduled for that day. Schedule a spa day one or two days before your wedding to get a facial, manicure, and pedicure. And on the actual day? Smile and have a good time!
